It was a real pleasure to see and meet spoken word artist and rapper Antony Szmierek at the 100 Club in June 2025.

The night was a blast, Antony’s flow was effortless, his lyricism sharp, and his band totally on point. The crowd were fully locked in, and he stuck around after the show to chat and dance with fans, which was a lovely, grounded gesture.

He’s absolutely one to watch. His tracks are sharply produced and blend hooky, groove-laden beats with amusing and acerbic pop poetry that, in the words of DIY Mag, “celebrates the beauty in the everyday,”. They're also beautifully contemporary, yet have a nostalgic nod to the past. I 100% see him becoming a festival favourite in the coming years.

His journey, from bedroom poet and self-published novelist to international touring artist, is genuinely inspiring. As Antony quipped onstage, “None of these jobs existed in the Stone Age and will disappear again in a hundred years' time.” Hopefully, though, people will still be listening.
