PATRICK McDowell ‘Portrait of a Painter’ LFW SS 2025
I was invited backstage to photograph Patrick McDowell’s latest Spring/Summer 2025 collection, Portrait of a Painter, at London Fashion Week.
The collection is inspired by early 20th-century painter Glyn Philpot, an artist who, as McDowell describes:
“… walked a tightrope between critical acclaim, his creative vision, and his queer identity… that tightrope resonates with me deeply. Fashion, too, walks a fine line between art and commerce, and in my own life, I often find myself balancing my creative drive with the practical demands of running a brand…”
The show was a stunning display of elegance, marked by a subtle, romantic sensuality. To capture the essence of both the collection and the atmosphere behind the scenes, I tried to use only available light to photograph the backstage moments, hopefully highlighting the raw energy of the preparation.
